Interactive touch table

The so-called “combined solution” is the biggest transport project in Karlsruhe’s city centre. Building work will begin in 2010 for a new city rail tunnel which will also include a track-free pedestrian zone.

The information campaign of this urban building project, which is called “The combined solution”, was launched at Karlsruhe’s jubilee celebrations from 20. to 22. June 2008. The aim of the campaign is to get the people of Karlsruhe interested in the project.

The central information medium is an Interactive Touch Table measuring 2.5 by 1.5 metres. The surface depicts an aerial view of the city of Karlsruhe including the planned building proposals which the people of Karlsruhe can then interactively find out about. By touching the various hotspots, you can find out information on the different tunnel constructions, ramps and stops.

After its debut at Karlsuhe’s jubilee, the Interactive Touch Table was converted into a permanent installation and is currently in the offices of the Schieneninfrastruktur-Gesellschaft mbH (KASIG) (rail infrastructure association) in Karlsruhe where, according to the KASIG press speaker, Mr Winkel, it is enjoying immense popularity.
